In this process, authors provide a questionnaire tailored to their story’s needs. This questionnaire guides beta readers in evaluating key aspects of the manuscript, such as character development, plot coherence, pacing, and overall engagement. By gathering and analyzing this feedback, authors can make informed adjustments to strengthen their work before moving forward. This service is available to non-clients.

Author Profile

The Author Profile is a free service that provides authors with a dedicated section on our website. This profile, hosted on a sub-domain using the author’s name or pen name, includes essential details such as a basic bio, a professional headshot, and a list of published works. It serves as a versatile tool that can act as a standalone web presence or complement an existing author website. With an Author Profile, you’ll have a polished and professional online hub to showcase your achievements and connect with readers.

ISBN Registration

ISBNs are issued through Bowker, allowing them to be used with any marketplace. Unlike free ISBNs assigned by platforms like Amazon, these provide authors with more control over their work and the ability to distribute their books widely without platform restrictions.

US Copyright Application

While your copyright is officially granted at the time of your work’s creation, applying for a US copyright adds an extra layer of legal protection. Our US copyright application service takes care of the entire process for you, from preparing the necessary documents to filing your application with the United States Copyright Office. By registering your copyright, you solidify your legal protections, ensuring your intellectual property is secure and recognized under US law.

Line Editing

Line editing is the industry-standard, thorough process for reviewing and improving your manuscript’s flow, word choice, and overall readability. This detailed review ensures your writing conveys your vision effectively. After the edits are completed, the editor and author will discuss the suggested changes, ensuring the author has the final say on what to accept or retain, keeping the creative control in their hands.

Cover Art

Kickstarter Assistance

We provide comprehensive support for all stages of your Kickstarter campaign. From helping you set up reward tiers to creating engaging text and graphics, we’ll ensure your campaign has the professional polish it needs to succeed. For reward distribution, we handle the fulfillment of books to your backers, saving you time and effort.

You maintain full control of your Kickstarter campaign—you run it, and you keep the funds raised. After the campaign, you have two options: reimburse Coffin & Nails for the assistance provided, or roll the Kickstarter fee into your advance repayment plan. The choice is entirely up to you.

Book Formatting

We’ll typeset your book in up to three basic formats: ePub, paperback, and hardcover—depending on your needs. Our base pricing includes projects with limited images, ensuring clean and professional layouts across formats. If your manuscript contains significant internal illustrations or complex designs, adjustments to the pricing may be required to accommodate the additional work. This ensures every format meets professional standards while maintaining the integrity of your vision.

Author Branding

Creating a strong author brand is essential for connecting with your audience. Our author branding service helps you craft a consistent and memorable identity across all platforms. This includes refining your author bio, establishing a cohesive visual theme, and curating the right tone for your social media presence. Our goal is to optimize your eBook’s presence in each marketplace, making it easy for readers to find and purchase your work.

P.O.D. Marketplace Setup

Our print-on-demand (P.O.D.) marketplace setup service ensures your book is ready for physical distribution on platforms like Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, and others. We’ll assist with uploading your print-ready files, setting pricing, selecting print options (such as trim size and paper type), and optimizing your book’s metadata for discoverability. This service is perfect for authors looking to offer professional-quality physical books without the overhead of traditional printing.

Book Launch

A successful book launch is critical to creating early momentum and engaging your target audience. Our book launch service includes crafting a comprehensive launch strategy tailored to your goals, developing an event or campaign timeline, and preparing promotional materials to support your efforts. Whether you’re planning a virtual release party, a social media blitz, or outreach to book bloggers and influencers, we’ll ensure your launch is set up for success. Additionally, we provide guidance on leveraging pre-orders, early reviews, and targeted promotions to maximize your book’s visibility and sales during the crucial launch period.

Royalty Payouts

Coffin & Nails Publishing believes in rewarding authors for their hard work and creativity. After the advance is fully recouped, royalties ranging from 80% to 95% of net profits will be paid directly to the author. Payouts are made on a quarterly, bi-yearly, or yearly basis, depending on the sales volume. If yearly sales do not exceed $100, authors will receive 100% royalties, ensuring every author benefits from their efforts regardless of scale.
